As a journalist with over 25 years of experience—the first decade in New York, the rest in Seattle—I've written about business and real estate for dozens of national and local publications (The Wall Street Journal, Seattle Times, Reuters), penned the book Rent Vs. Own (Chronicle Books), and tackled complex writing projects for corporate clients (Zillow, Expedia). I’ve written articles, features, and explanatory copy for clients who hire me to make topics ranging from asset-backed securities to single-tenant net leased commercial real estate, from portfolio rebalancing to mortgage finance, from mutual funds to IRS audits, comprehensible to consumers.

Rent Vs. Own by Jane Hodges book cover

I pitched and penned this nonfiction book about changing attitudes toward homeownership published by Chronicle Books (2012). RvO garnered favorable reviews and interviews in print, web, and trade media and was featured on NPR’s Marketplace Money. I also presented at bookstores and events in five cities and on a panel at Town Hall Seattle, guest-blogged at Curbed and Huffington Post, and did a 35-station radio tour.
